Citizens held mass rallies in cities such as Caracas, Guanare, Yaracuy, Barquisimeto, and Barinas.
On Wednesday, thousands of Venezuelans took to the streets to demand the convening of a “World Summit for Peace and Against War,” an initiative proposed by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro to address rising tensions in West Asia and the nuclear threat.

In Caracas, the capital of the South American nation, demonstrators gathered to march from Sucre Square and the headquarters of state telecommunications company CANTV toward the Republic Bridge in the La Candelaria parish.
Nahum Fernandez, vice president of mobilization for the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), confirmed that rallies and marches would also take place in the cities of Guanare (Portuguesa state), Yaracuy (Sucre state), Barquisimeto (Lara state), and Barinas (Barinas state).
On Monday, Maduro proposed the “World Summit for Peace and Against War” in an open letter addressed to heads of state and government. Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez read the letter in the presence of ambassadors accredited in Caracas, calling for peace, an end to hostilities against Iran, and the restoration of international law.
“This call for a cessation of hostilities must be the first step toward a comprehensive political solution, built through dialogue, legality, and sovereign respect among nations,” the Bolivarian president wrote.
“The situation in West Asia has entered a phase of extreme tension and violence. The escalation of aggression by the State of Israel toward the Islamic Republic of Iran, compounded by U.S. military strikes on Iranian territory, risks triggering a crisis with catastrophic nuclear consequences for the region and the world,” he explained.
“Adding to this is Israel’s persistent refusal to dismantle its undeclared nuclear arsenal, as well as its rejection of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspections and the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). This continued impunity poses a grave risk to collective security and undermines the principles of the multilateral system,” Maduro emphasized.
The Bolivarian leader urged Global South organizations and regional institutions—including the Non-Aligned Movement, the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Gulf Cooperation Council, the African Union, BRICS, and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC)—to “jointly promote an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire in West Asia.”
